The EELA-2 project is organized into 6 main activities, just like "departments" in a factory. The activity identified by "NA3" is the one in charge of providing technical support to researchers wanting to port their applications on the EELA-2 Grid infrastructure.

Using another metaphor, if we imagine the EELA-2 project as a tree, it would look like the picture below. SA2 (the network layer) as the base. SA1 (the Grid infrastructure itself) as the trunk, supporting the brunches and leaves (which are the applications). On the top of SA1, JRA1 provides additional services/APIs that can be used by the applications. NA1 (the administrative management) takes care of the tree so that it can grow up healthy. Last but not least, NA2 (dissemination) is in charge of attracting new users/consumers to the fruits (the results generated by the applications).

EELA-2 Tree

The set of application supported by NA3 is not closed. New applications are welcome to join at any time. The candidate applications will be selected taking into consideration the following criteria:

However, only applications proposed by researchers affiliated with one of the EELA-2 partner/member institutions are eligible to be supported.

Organizational structure

Formally, NA3 is organized into 4 sub-activities, named tasks:

TNA3.1: Coordination of the Activity (Led by INFN, Italy)
This task deal with the overall coordination of NA3.

TNA3.2: Application Identification, Selection and Gridification Support (Led by CETA-CIEMAT, Spain)
This task carry out the identification of the applications to be deployed on the EELA-2 Production Infrastructure and the setup of a "gridification" team able to understand the applications’ requirements and lead the porting process.

TNA3.3: Applications under Deployment (Led by INFN, Italy)
This task is in charge of planning the deployment strategy and assisting the applications’ owners during testing and actual deployment of the software.

TNA3.4: Applications in Production Stage (Led by CIEMAT, Spain)
This task is responsible for assisting applications' owners accessing output data and integrating results of different applications in the same domain.
